BVU names Rohlk male athlete of the year

Garrett Rohlk of Ida Grove and a 2014 graduate of O-A/BC-IG High School was recently voted Buena Vista University "Outstanding Male Student-Athlete of the Year” for the 2017-18 school year. The award covered all male sports at BVU.

Rohlk, the son of Tracey and Kelly Rohlk of Ida Grove, achieved a number of milestones while competing for the BVU track and field team his senior season.

Rohlk’s accomplishments and awards include broke the school record in the weight throw (17.07 meters) and the hammer throw (52.83 meters); voted to the All-Beaver Team; voted MVP of the track team; captain of the track team and an Academic All-American.

Rohlk graduated Saturday, May 26 with a degree in human performance/exercise science.  He plans on taking graduate classes this fall online to get his masters degree. Rohlk’s future goals include finding a position as a strength and conditioning coach and throws coach at the collegiate level.
