Falcon passing game misfires in loss to Red Oak

OABCIG, ranked 10th in the state in class 2A, came up on the short end of the score in a 24-19 district football loss to Red Oak Friday. The setback was the first of the season for the Falcons who slipped to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in district play.

Coach Larry Allen noted the passing game, which has been the team’s bread and butter this year, was a little out of sync. Quarterback Kaden Ladwig completed 16 of 40 passes for 315 yards. He threw three touchdown passes and two interceptions.

“We were disappointed we didn’t do a better job of throwing and catching the ball,” said Allen. “The previous four weeks we had a lot of breaks go our way, but that wasn’t the case Friday. We dropped way too many balls. We were open a lot more than the 16 catches we had. We either misfired on the throw or the catch."
