IG council sets hearing for bridge project, turns down proposals for land swap, city hall

The Ida Grove City Council set a date for a public hearing on the Moorehead Avenue bridge project and turned down proposals for a land swap agreement and for acquiring a building for city hall at its July 6 meeting.
The council heard an update on the Moorehead Avenue Bridge project. Plans for the construction have been submitted and Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) comment has been received. The city and JEO Engineering held a utility coordination meeting on June 17. JEO is waiting on USACE Section 408 (relating to archeology and protected areas) permit.
When that is received, they can submit final plans and proceed to a bid letting which will likely be in October or November. Cody Forch of JEO Engineering said the cost to build the bridge might go above the estimated cost by as much as $200,000, due to an increase in the cost of concrete.
