2/20/2013 Ridge View girls close out 2012-13 season
The Ridge View girls saw their 2012-13 basketball season come to an end Feb. 13 when they lost to Hinton 74-38 in the regional tournament quarterfinal in Hinton.
Coach Tyler Phelan noted it was a tough game for his club.
"As a team we knew they were excellent in transition and getting to the hoop," said Phelan. "We were unable to stop both of these consistently throughout the game.
"The girls worked hard to cut the lead to 11 in the second quarter only to see a flourish that pushed it back to 21. It was a disappointing way to end the year for sure."
Hinton had leads of 26-9 after one quarter, 45-24 at halftime and 62-30 after three quarters.
Anna Davis was Ridge View's leading scorer with 16 points.
"Davis really stepped up nicely," said Phelan. "She played tough basketball, which is a great sign for next year. We simply were unable to get Nicole Snyder the ball in situations where she could do much. That was unfortunate for the team and from the coaches' stand point."
Ridge View finished the year with a 13-10 record overall. Phelan said he was pleased with how the season turned out. "The whole team made such progress throughout the year; it was unfortunate to see it finish like this. That being said, the girls had a solid season and that will be motivating for the future to come."
