BATTLE CREEK - Gary L. Schwier, 78, of Battle Creek, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at his residence of Battle Creek.

Gary Lee Schwier, the son of Henry and Verda (Strawn) Schwier, was born on April 16, 1947, in Battle Creek. He grew up on a farm north of Battle Creek and received his education from Battle Creek High School, graduating with the class of 1965.

Gary devoted his professional life to the insurance industry. He began his career in the 1970s with Mutual of Omaha and later continued with Prudential. In the 1980s, he stepped away from insurance to assist his father with farming. During that time, he attended horseshoeing school in Oklahoma and shoed horses on the side. Gary eventually returned to the insurance field with Life Investors Insurance and later worked as a crop adjuster for Ag Pro until his retirement.

In his spare time, Gary enjoyed bow target shooting, prairie dog hunting, riding his motorcycle, and traveling out west to visit his sons and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory include his sons Aaron Schwier of Chilcoot, CA and Casey (Amy) Schwier of Noxon, MT; grandchildren Trenton, Travis, Leah, Morgan, and Garrett; great-grandchildren Emmarie and Lucie; sister Carol (Larry) Wunschel of Valentine, NE; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Verda Schwier; son Chad Schwier; and brother Gerald Schwier.
