Everything went OABCIG’s way in a 55-2 homecoming romp over MVAO-COU on Friday night. The Rams fumbled on the first play from scrimmage, and the Falcons jumped on the ball and never looked back. Quarterback Brysen Kolar hooked up with Jack Gilbert on a touchdown pass play a few minutes later, and a Kelton Ladwig extra point kick gave OABCIG a quick 7-0 lead. With five minutes remaining in the first quarter, Kolar connected with Jaxx DeJean on an 11-yard touchdown pass play, and the Falcons were up 14-0.
The Ridge View volleyball squad picked up another victory on Tuesday in Holstein, defeating OABCIG 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-7). The Raptors were hosting a triangular with the Falcons and River Valley. In game one, Ridge View jumped out to a 15-1 lead. After a timeout, OABCIG played much better, but the Raptors still cruised to a 25-8 win. Game two was more competitive, as Ridge View gradually pulled away for a 25-15 victory. The Raptors completed the sweep with a convincing, 25-7 win in game three.
The OABCIG volleyball squad participated in a triangular at Holstein on Tuesday. The Falcons met up with River Valley, and the two teams put on quite a show. In game one, OABCIG built a 16-9 lead, but the Wolverines slowly worked their way back into the game, finally tying the contest at 23 apiece before going on to win 25-23.
The Raptor boys and girls cross country squads participated in the Chris Smith Invitational hosted by Sioux Central on Thursday. In girls results, Addison Tesch placed ninth out of 80 runners with a time of 21:41.89. Clara Todd finished 28th in a time of 23:43.95, while teammate Regan Ruble was close behind with a time of 24:16.49. Kinzie Hagen clocked in at 28:22.98, while Xaria Rojas turned in a time of 30:36.72.
The Falcons boys and girls cross country teams took part in the Chris Smith Invitational at Sioux Rapids on Thursday. In girls results, Olivia Schnabel paced OABCIG with a time of 25:04.12. Faith Johnson clocked in at 27:57.78, while teammates Jessica Masters, Bree Otto, and Ava Miller finished back to back with times of 34:11.44, 34:16.45, and 34:38.34.
The Ridge View football squad traveled to Hinton on Friday, to take on the Blackhawks in the class 1A district 1 opener. The game was a defensive slugfest, with neither team being able to score in the first half as they went into the halftime break tied at 0-0.
The OABCIG volleyball squad picked up its first conference victory of the season last week, defeating Kingsley-Pierson 3-1 (25-10, 21-25, 26-24, 25-16). In game one, the Falcons pulled away to build a 19-9 lead, then controlled the rest of the contest for a 25-10 win. The Panthers fought back in game two, jumping out to a 10-5 lead and then pushing the advantage to 21-13. OABCIG kept battling, climbing their way back to within three points at 24-21. The rally ended there, however, as K-P claimed a 25-21 win to even the match at 1-1.
The OABCIG cross country teams traveled to Holstein on Saturday, to participate in the annual Tim Thomas Classic. In girls results, Olivia Schnabel paced the Falcons with a time of 25:25.90. Faith Johnson clocked in at 30:13.07, while teammate Jessica Masters turned in a time of 32:02.96. Bree Otto crossed the finish line in 34:03.36, followed by Ava Miller with a time of 37:48.29.
In boys action, Hunter Maier led the Falcons with a time of 19:00.22. Quintin Samway clocked in at 21:17.66, while teammate Will Porter turned in a time of 21:52.35.
The Raptor boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Tim Thomas Classic at Holstein on Saturday. In girls results, Ridge View’s Addy Tesch placed 13th out of 99 runners with a time of 21:48.13. Clara Todd finished 30th in a time of 23:32.12. Tiegan Vohs clocked in at 27:12.01, while teammate Regan Ruble turned in a time of 27:59.56. Kinzie Hagen and Tess Pacza crossed the finish line with times of 28:54.36 and 34:34.80, respectively.
The OABCIG football squad traveled to the northwest corner of the state on Friday night, to take on perennial powerhouse West Lyon. The Wildcats dominated play from the start, jumping out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter. It was more of the same in the second period, as West Lyon built a 35-0 advantage going into halftime. The Wildcats tacked on a couple more touchdowns in the third period to increase the margin to 49-0, which would end up being the final score.
