Pam Bruning

Pam Bruning

1955 – 2025

HOLSTEIN - Pamela “Pam” R. Bruning, 69, of Holstein, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 in her home surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 3-5 p.m. with a time of sharing by her family at 3 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. There will be no burial. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pam was born Dec. 26, 1955 to Percy and Glyceria “Susie” (Kraus) Ellis in Sac City, Iowa.

Pam will be remembered for her strength and resilience, and even though often stubborn, her notorious words until the very end were “it will be ok, I will be ok.” She leaves this legacy for her daughter and granddaughter to remember that everything is “figureoutable.”

She enjoyed baking, sewing, motorcycle riding, bowling, shopping and spending time with her friends and family. She was an avid lover and collector of all things Teddy Bears. Her grandchildren knew she was always up for a game of Yahtzee or Kings Korners. In her younger years, she was a very active grandma, always loving up on the kids and spoiling them. However, it was not unusual for her to negotiate a back rub from them for a dollar.

Pam has worked at Nobles Manufacturing, Mary’s Kitchen, Ida Bowl, Crossroads Restaurant, and most recently, in the laundry department at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Holstein.

Pam is survived by her daughter Jessica Ernst of Holstein, and son Brandon (Jody) Wehde of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Janessa Rahn, Zander Ernst, Dalyne (Emma) King, and Tyler (Rayvon) King; great-grandchildren, Knox, Ryker, and Evelyn. She is also survived by her older sisters Sharon (Jim) Hoffman of Anaheim CA, Peg Ellis of Aurelia, IA and Tom (Sherise) Ellis of Storm Lake, IA and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Glyceria “Susie” Ellis; sister, Cynthia Foust; nephews, Brian Ellis and Michael Foust Jr., and niece, Teresa Kruse.
