Sallie Anne Miesner, the daughter of John and Sylvia (Ehler) Heilman, was born on Oct. 10, 1955, in Ida Grove. She received her education from Ida Grove High School, graduating with the class of 1973. Upon graduating, Sallie began working on the family farm.

On Nov. 27, 1977, Sallie was united in marriage to Dennis A. Miesner at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Together, they were blessed with three children: Jessica, Jeffrey, and Curtis. Over the years, Sallie worked at the Meisner’s Store (Ben Franklin), formerly located where the Ida Grove Hardware Store now stands, and later spent 25 years as a teller at United Bank of Iowa. She also served as owner and co-editor of Red Power Magazine until retiring in 2024.

In her younger years, Sallie was very active in the Ida County Fair and proudly served as a former Ida County Pork Queen. Even later in life, she continued to enjoy attending county fairs, tractor shows, auctions, and spending time shopping. She especially loved operating Red Power Magazine. Sallie also had a passion for collecting, particularly crocks and stoneware, among many other treasures.

Above all, family meant everything to Sallie. She cherished attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and loved spending time playing with her younger grandchildren. Always one to keep busy, Sallie was known for her kind and welcoming nature and truly enjoyed visiting with others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 48 years, Dennis Miesner of Ida Grove; children Jessica (Tom) Forbes of Mapleton, Jeffrey (Geneva) Miesner of Ida Grove, and Curtis (Haley) Miesner of Ida Grove; grandchildren William, Charlie, Sylvia, and Kelly Forbes, Chase, Channing, Charity, and Cherish Miesner, Gracelyn, Madelyn, and Evelyn Miesner; sister Judy (Richard) Schmidt of Ida Grove; brother Jerry (Teresa) Heilman of Ida Grove; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
