Wayne Dietrich Albers was born on June 13, 1944, the son of Harold and Alice (Strackbein) Albers in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was born on Friday the 13th, which he claimed was always his lucky day. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1962 and then attended Wayne State College. Following his education, he entered the Air Force. While serving his country, Wayne was stationed at the White House, working in the communications department for President Lyndon B. Johnson. After his honorable discharge, Wayne farmed outside of Cushing with his dad.
On June 9, 1973, he was united in marriage to Kaye (Goodwin) in Lawton, Iowa.
Wayne and Kaye had many adventures snowmobiling, traveling, playing slow pitch softball, and golfing. Wayne’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his children and grandchildren. And of course, cheering on the Washington Redskins and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Wayne farmed the family farm and later owned and operated Albers Siding, Inc.
He loved nothing more than visiting with his friends and family, telling a bad, very drawn out, joke, and giving and receiving some good-natured static.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Kaye. His three children and their families; Scott and Ashley Albers, Kyra and Elle of Country Club, MO. Steve and Mariam Albers, Elizabeth and Isaac of Long Beach, CA. Jennifer and Scott Thorson, Jack, Quinn, and Clay of Waverly, IA. His sister, Beverley Bergmann of Aurelia, IA. Sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Rod Rentel and brother-in-law Terry Goodwin, all of Sioux City. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Wayne and Bonnie Goodwin and two brothers, Gordon and Gary Albers. Also preceding him in death were his brother-in-law Raymond Bergmann, sisters-in-law Charlotte Albers and Colleen Goodwin, and nephew Dale Bergmann.
