LAWTON - Carla K. Eidenshink, 65, of Lawton, formerly of Moville and Ida Grove, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025 at her home in Lawton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025 at 10 a.m., with a visitation from 8:30-10 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with Vicar Emily Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville.
Carla Kay Eidenshink was born Dec. 9, 1959 to Lloyd and Janith Glawe in Cherokee. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein and remained a member for many years. She attended school in Holstein and graduated from Holstein High School in 1978. Carla loved attending class reunions and enjoyed helping with the 40th class reunion. Many of her classmates remain close friends.
After high school, she went to AIB in Des Moines to study business then started her bookkeeping career. Later, she continued her studies at WIT and graduated with an accounting degree. Later on, Carla graduated from Bellevue University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Carla married Dave Eidenshink in 1981. To this union, a daughter, Jessica Kay was born. The couple later parted ways.
Carla used her skills at various jobs. She was the board secretary at Woodbury Central School, a business manager at Farmer’s Mutual Insurance (EGR) in Moville and worked her way up to Vice President. Carla was very proud when she became a Certified Insurance Counselor. She then took a payroll clerk position at Ida Grove City Hall, which led to her becoming the City Clerk of Lawton and earning her Certified Municipal Clerk and Finance Officer certification. Carla finished her career with her dream job as a field auditor for the State of Iowa.
One of her favorite pastimes was watching her daughter, Jessie, play various sports. She was Jessie’s biggest fan. Spending time with family and friends was very important to Carla. Collecting clowns was a special hobby of hers. She loved making Christmas cookies and candies, especially peppernuts and peanut clusters. Carla also enjoyed playing cards and taking trips to Las Vegas. She was instrumental in helping with Moville’s 125th celebration by recording all of the information for their history book.
She is survived by her loving daughter and caretaker, Jessica and her very supportive son-in-law, Travis Pratt of Holstein; grand-dog, JJ; mother, Janith Glawe of Holstein; brother, Mike (Jennifer) Glawe of Ida Grove; nieces, Emily (Adam) Hemer of Arthur, and Erin Glawe of Moville; two special great-nieces, Shila Scheer and Lainey Hemer; great-nephew, Beau Hemer; and a sister at heart, Carolyn (Wes) Smith of Sioux City.
Carla was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Glawe; grandparents, Jess and Minnie Williams, Benn and Effie Glawe and Anna Thomson; aunt, Verniele Hallengren, uncle, Duane Williams, and some very special friends and family.
The family would like to thank Synergy Home Health for helping with Carla’s care. Also, a special thanks to Carolyn Smith and Linda Erickson for helping with Carla’s care.
She was a courageous fighter who will be missed by all that knew her. Her daughter, Jessie, will remember her mom as her best friend forever.
