With the start of a new school year, it will soon be time for area 4th grade classes to take their annual trips to the country school at Moorehead Park. The 4th graders will get the opportunity to experience a day of class at the Grant Center, just as if they were in country school.
Erin Fineran is eager to help patients in her role as Speech Language Pathologist at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Erin shared some of the ways she helps patients at Horn.
“In speech therapy,” she explained, “we are competent in what we call the ‘Big 9.’”
The “Big 9” include speech, language, cognition, social communication, feeding/swallowing, hearing, AAC, fluency, and voice.
Children visiting Moorehead Park may enjoy a special treat along Pleasant Valley Trail as it winds through the park.
In a collaboration between The Ida Grove Public Library and Ida County Conservation, kids are treated to the pages of a children’s book as they walk the trail.
Conservation staff made a series of wooden posts and platforms on which the pages are displayed; library staff members choose the books to be displayed.
A special election on Sept. 9 will allow voters in the Galva-Holstein school district to maintain an important revenue source for the school. The election will ask voters to renew a funding stream known as SAVE (Secure an Advanced Vision for Education).
School superintendent Adam Bisenius clarified some details about the election.
As city officials hope for the completion of work with the E. Second St. project, options were the focus of discussion for Ida Grove City Council.
During the Aug. 18 meeting, council talked about traffic flow concerns.
With school starting, discussion turned to detouring traffic.
Parking along Barnes Street was approved to be prohibited until work is completed and E. Second St. reopened.
