The OABCIG 4x100 meter relay team of Gabe Winterrowd, Beau Nieman, Beckett DeJean, and Josh Peters finished in a time of 44.92 seconds at Holstein on Friday to qualify for the state track meet. They will race at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Friday. Joel Nakazawa also qualified for the state meet in the discus competition after unleashing a throw of 144 feet 11 inches.
Rylee Krayenhagen of OABCIG took home medalist honors at the Western Valley Conference golf tournament in Le Mars last week. Krayenhagen fired a 98 in the 18-hole tournament to capture first place by a single stroke. Emma Vohs of Ridge View shot a 102 to capture fifth place. As a team, OABCIG shot a 457 to earn fifth place in the tournament. Kingsley-Pierson shot a 430 to win the championship, followed by Westwood with a 436, MVAO-COU with a 443, Woodbury Central with a 456, and the Falcons with a 457.
The OABCIG boys golf team took first place at the Western Valley Conference tournament held in Le Mars last week. The Falcons shot a team score of 335, compared to second place Woodbury Central with a 352. Ben Hofmeister took home runner-up medalist honors after firing an 80 in the 18-hole tournament. He was followed by Kale Ladwig with an 84, Jackson Godbersen with an 85, Kane Ladwig and Griffin Diersen who shot identical scores of 86, and Cade Mason with a 104.
Abby Winterrowd of OABCIG turned in a time of 1:02.73 in the 400 meter dash at the state qualifying meet in Holstein on Friday to earn a trip to Des Moines. She will race at approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The Ridge View girls track and field squad had a successful night at the state qualifying meet in Holstein on Friday. The Raptors qualified for the state track meet in six events.
The Ridge View boys golf team won third place at the Storm Lake golf invitational. The Raptors shot a team score of 176, just four strokes behind meet winner Alta-Aurelia with a 172. Ridge View was led by Aiden Martin, who fired a 39 to tie for the best score at the meet, then won a playoff to earn medalist honors. He was followed closely by Brady Clausen, who shot a 41. Levi Albers fired a 47, followed by Gavin Vohs with a 49 and Ethan Mason with a 50. Gabe Chance shot a 61 to complete the scoring.
The Ridge View boys golf squad captured fourth place in a tight sectional meet at Willow Vale golf course in Mapleton. The Raptors were led by Aiden Martin, who fired an 82 to finish with the third best score of the day and qualify for the district meet. Gavin Vohs fired an 85, followed closely by Brady Clausen with an 88. Cayden Clausen shot a 99, followed by Levi Albers with a 105 and Ethan Mason with a 112.
The Ridge View boys track and field squad competed well in the state qualifying meet at Holstein on Friday. Kolton Luscombe won the discus competition with a throw of 154 feet 11 inches, qualifying him for the state meet. Brody Deitering placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.40 seconds, good enough to secure one of the eight at-large bids for the state track meet. Ridge View’s 4x800 team of Tracin Price, Jake Breyfogle, Kyler Wunschel, and Travis Wiese placed third with a season-best time of 8:37.00. That effort also qualified them for an at-large spot at the state meet.
The Ridge View girls track and field squad captured first place at the Rebel Relays in Sloan on Friday. The Raptors scored 188 team points, more than doubling that of the second place finisher, which was host school Westwood with 91 points.
