If you haven’t already, it’s time to move your plants indoors to save them from winter kill. Here’s a story from Diana Parson, who lives with her husband Perry in Ottumwa. Their son recently died. Fern

In Congress, I’m focused on cutting through the noise in Washington, D.C. and working to advance real policy solutions that benefit Iowa. That’s what Iowans elected me to do and deserve from their representatives. Putting Iowans first and delivering legislative victories for our families, farmers, small businesses, and vibrant communities has always been my mission.
“Trouble’s brewing,” is one of those great lines that, unfortunately, for any one under a certain age, or fortunate enough to have grown up on old movies, I doubt would call to mind for the kids what it does for us as adults.
The Marshall, looking over at the distance, perhaps a cloud of dust visible from approaching horses, could expect horse rustlers, outlaws, or something along those lines.
Or, as I write this, the prospect of a blizzard.

In the world of sports, people tend to root for teams that represent their school, town, city, state, or country. In the Olympics, for example, people all over the world cheer for their nation’s team to bring home a medal, or sometimes to defeat a “rival” country.
Last week, I wrote about it being my 36-year anniversary for being clean and sober. And on that day, which was Monday, Nov. 3, I was also having a brain MRI and full-body CT scan at Iowa City. As you know, I’m recovering from cancer.
On Nov. 12, I voted to end the Democrat shutdown and reopen the federal government. For 43 days, Democrats forced our troops, border patrol agents, and Air Traffic Controllers to work without pay and hurt our farmers during harvest season to push their out-of-touch agenda. This political stunt by the Democrats caused unnecessary harm to Iowa families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses — and I’m glad it’s finally over.
It has now been a little over a year since more than 77 million Americans voted for President Trump in a landslide victory. From stopping the largest tax hike in U.S. history to completely shutting down our border, President Trump and Republicans in Congress have worked hard to deliver on this mandate and usher in an era of American greatness and prosperity. One of President Trump’s main focuses since his election has been supporting our farmers and producers.
When someone or something gets an undeserved bad reputation, it is often referred to as getting a “bad rap.”
We might feel like we’ve gotten a bad rap if we’re involved in a bad situation, but people don’t know the whole story. Or sometimes, we just have to admit that, yes, we messed up and can’t make that mistake again, or have to do better in the future.
Now that we’re through Halloween and All Souls, the bonds seem loosed that had previously been holding back the approach of the holidays.
At least one municipality, which shall remain nameless, has had decorations out and a start on decorating begun for some weeks now.
