A huge third inning from the Ridge View baseball team was more than enough, as the Raptors blanked Cherokee 9-0 on Wednesday night in Holstein. After a pair of scoreless innings to start the contest, Ridge View broke through for seven runs in the third inning for a 7-0 lead.
The Ridge View softball squad started its season with a bang, defeating Cherokee 12-2 on Wednesday night in Galva. It was the Braves who struck first, scoring a pair of second inning runs for a 2-0 lead.
The OABCIG track and field squad had six entries in the Iowa High School State Track Meet in Des Moines last week. The girls qualifiers featured Addisyn Pritchard in the long jump, who placed 17th with a leap of 15 feet 11 inches.
A big fifth inning propelled OABCIG to a 10-0 victory over visiting Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, in the season opener for both teams. A pleasant but cool Monday evening in Ida Grove was the setting for the contest, which ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
In what was a tight contest for much of the night, the OABCIG baseball squad erupted for 11 runs in the final two innings, doubling up East Sac County 16-8.
The outlook was good for the Ridge View baseball team last Tuesday in Holstein. The Raptors had built a 7-1 lead over Sioux Central after five innings of play, and looked to be on their way to victory in the home opener.
