A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. Father William A. McCarthy officiated. A visitation was held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. Committal followed in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery of Danbury, Iowa.
MERRILL - Wayne John Preston, age 84, of Merrill, Iowa, (formerly of Battle Creek, Iowa) passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
MESA, ARIZONA - Robert E. Carstens, age 89, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., with a visitation held one-hour prior from 12-1 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Randy D. Cormeny will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa.
DENISON - Darline Elaine (Ladwig) Henkel was born on Sept. 10, 1929, the daughter of Albert and Hulda (Blunk) Ladwig in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized on March 17, 1930, and later confirmed her faith on March 25, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Darline attended a country school near her home place. She married Herman Henkel on Oct. 16, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church.
IDA GROVE - Rodney “Pickle” N. Peekenschneider, age 63, of Ida Grove, Iowa (formerly of Lake Park, Iowa) passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at his residence of Ida Grove, Iowa, after a hard-fought four-year battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa.
