The Ridge View girls track team participated in the Rod Smith Invitational at Woodbine on Tuesday. The Raptor gals won the event, scoring 155 points compared to second place Woodbine with 99 points.
The Ridge View boys track and field squad competed at the annual Rod Smith Invitational at Woodbine on Tuesday. The Raptors captured third place at the meet, scoring 93 points. Woodbine won the event with 141 points. The Raptors dominated the 100 meter dash, as Isaac Goettsch won the event with a time of 11.96 seconds. Kade Wright and Austin Pyle took fifth and sixth place, respectively, with times of 12.68 seconds and 13.05 seconds. Caden Biede captured 11th place out of 30 runners with a time of 13.60 seconds.
OABCIG boys make good showing at Audubon track meet The OABCIG boys track team participated in the Audubon Boys Early Bird track meet on Tuesday night. The Falcons dominated the long jump competition, as Beckett DeJean won the event with a leap of 20 feet 10.5 inches. Gabe Winterrowd captured second place with a jump of 20 feet 9.5 inches, and Bodie Hansen took ninth place with a jump of 18 feet 4.5 inches. In the high jump, Brysen Kolar placed fourth with a leap of 5 feet 8 inches. Kyle Spotts took ninth place out of 43 throwers in the shot put competition with a toss of 40 feet 4 inches.
OABCIG head track coach Travis Chizek has about 25 boys and 25 girls out this year. Chizek shared who his top returning athletes are.
“Our top returning boys are Chance Buns in middle distance, Beckett DeJean in sprint and hurdle events, Gabe Winterrowd in the sprints and as a long jumper, Josh Peters as a sprinter, Ethan Behrendsen as a sprinter, Kelton Ladwig as sprinter and hurdler, Treyten Kolar as a hurdler, and Kyle Spotts is our top returning thrower.”
The OABCIG boys and girls track squads took part in the Dordt University indoor track and field meet. In girls results, Abby Winterrowd captured third place out of 44 runners in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.48 seconds. Allie Godbersen finished seventh with a time of 8.65 seconds. In the 1500 meter run, Olivia Schnabel took seventh place with a time of 6:19.10.
The Ridge View boys track team is optimistic for the new season. Head track coach Dale Tokheim is in his 8th year, and has been assistant coach since 2012. He is being assisted by Justin Kinney. Tokheim talked about some key team members lost to graduation.
The Ridge View girls track team is looking to repeat last year's success, under the guidance of head coach Angie Kohn, assistant coach Angela Brinkman, and volunteer coach Lisa Shepherd. The Raptors have 31 athletes on the roster, including 2 seniors, 12 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 8 freshmen.

The OABCIG boys track team took part in the Nielsen Indoor meet at Humboldt on Friday. The Falcons’ Gabe Winterrowd won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.54 seconds, while Ethan Behrendsen finished eighth out of 49 runners with a time of 7.62 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Kade Spotts finished 20th out of 43 runners with a time of 27.65 seconds. In the 800 meter run, Hunter Maier finished 12th out of 33 runners with a time of 2:30.54.
The Ridge View boys track squad competed at the Nielson Indoor meet at Humboldt on Friday. In the 60-meter dash, Isaac Goettsch took fourth place with a time of 7.58 seconds, while Kade Wright finished ninth with a time of 7.65 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Zach Kolpin finished eighth out of 43 runners with a time of 26.46 seconds. Cornell McCray took 17th place with a time of 27.37 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Clayton Jacobson finished ninth out of 34 runners with a time of 59.84 seconds.
Carter Wright, an 8th grader at Ridge View, wrestled in Districts on Feb. 6 and won Northwest Iowa's District One 160-lb C division.
In round one, Wright won by fall over Marcus Loutsch from Hinton. In the semifinal match, Wright won by fall over Abraham Palma from Boyden-Hull-Rock Valley.
